Mavs Dominated Celtics In the Third to Win Game 2
The Boston Celtics took another step closer to another NBA championship with a 105-98 win over the Dallas Mavericks in Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday night. The Celtics now lead the series 2-0 and can clinch the title with a win in Game 3 on Wednesday night.
Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum led the way for the Celtics with 29 and 24 points, respectively. Brown also had 7 rebounds and 5 assists, while Tatum added 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Al Horford added 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Marcus Smart chipped in with 10 points and 7 assists.
The Mavericks were led by Luka Doncic, who had 26 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. Jalen Brunson added 21 points, while Dorian Finney-Smith had 18 points and 8 rebounds.
The Celtics took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Mavericks 35-14. Brown and Tatum combined for 22 points in the quarter, while the Mavericks shot just 3-of-16 from the field.
The Mavericks made a run in the fourth quarter, but the Celtics were able to hold on for the win. The Celtics hit 10 of their 12 free throws in the fourth quarter, while the Mavericks hit just 6 of their 12.
The Celtics will look to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the series when they host the Mavericks in Game 3 on Wednesday night.
